1. Managing Numbness (The First 1–3 Hours)
Not all patients will be numb
After the procedure, your child’s mouth may feel numb, tingly, or “fat” due to the gentle anesthetic used. This sensation is completely normal and is intended to keep your child comfortable while the effects last.

3. Protecting the Appliance (Foods to Avoid)
To prevent breakage, please help your child avoid these foods:

Brushing: Brush 2–3 times daily with fluoride toothpaste, focusing on the bands and wires.
Flossing: Clean under wires using a floss threader or interdental brush.
Rinsing: Rinse with water after meals to clear debris.
When to Call Our Office
Movement: The appliance loosens or comes off.
Damage: Wires are broken, bent, or causing pain.
Pain: Severe pain or swelling occurs.
